Project Description:
CIMIC Group company UGL has been awarded a contract with ElectraNet Pty Ltd to design, build and commission high voltage substations and transmission lines that will connect the Prominent Hill Mine to the South Australian electricity grid, continuing CIMIC Group’s long-standing involvement with the mine. UGL will design, construct and commission two high voltage switching stations and approximately 300kms of high voltage transmission lines, building on Thiess’ 10-year involvement with the mine.
Survey Scope:
ST Spatial had one to two fulltime survey crews on site covering the entire 300km site. We were responsible for the supply, installation and operations of semi-permanent GPS base stations to allow for machine guidance clearing operations. ST Spatial were also responsible for the co-ordination and calculation of the staking table report, and setout of all structures including towers, legs and ground anchors, line deviation angles, ahead spans, leg extensions, site benching, guy anchors, and orientation pegs. We completed as-con surveys for GDP Clearing as well as all the QA and QC surveys on all installed towers.
